New Year, New You

With the new year in sight, it’s time to start thinking about what the next phase of your life will hold. It’s time to start setting your goals and resolutions for the year ahead, to ensure that when 2018 rolls around, you can look back and see just how far you’ve come in a year. But just for a change this year, we thought it might be fun to try setting goals that are actually obtainable. Goals that we can actually stick to and work at, rather than those vague resolutions that we keep for a week and then end up needing to set again for the next year. Studies show that 92% of new year resolutions fail by January 15th! Well this year, we’re going to make ‘em stick! How do we do this pray tell? The trick is to keep it specific. Goals that are time-bound and measurable are proven to work best, and writing down your goals makes you 50% more likely to achieve them! So now that we know how to set them, let’s have a think about exactly what goals to set for the coming year.

Eat Healthy

We’ve all done it, we tell ourselves “this year I’ll eat healthier”. So vague, so difficult to stick to. With a goal like that, you’ll no doubt hit that #cleaneating trend hard in the first couple of weeks of the year, but after that, this one becomes a little unrealistic for us mere mortals. Instead, try being more specific. Perhaps decide to eat healthy fats, like avocados and omega-3s. Choose one or two days of the week where you have salmon for one of the meals that day. Or maybe buy a new recipe book of healthy recipes and set a goal to try a new recipe once a week. There are so many ways you can be healthy throughout the year; the trick is to be specific. And if you’re looking for the freshest ingredients for your healthy meals or snacks, head down to Peaches where you’ll find the best quality produce to keep you motivated!

Lose Weight
Another crowd favourite, we’re all aware of how easily this one can fall by the wayside. Try to keep things exciting when you’re setting goals to exercise. Perhaps every Sunday morning you try a new class like yoga on the beach or a barre class that incorporates ballet with pilates and cardio. Or put aside a time in the week to take a hike through some of the beautiful national parks or along the stunning coastline. Another great way to stay motivated is to find a workout buddy so there’s no bailing on leg day.
Kick the caffeine addiction

2016 has been a big year, so no surprise we’ve all got a low-key caffeine addiction by this stage. Reset your body by switching out that 4th coffee for the day for a herbal tea instead. Slowly work your way back to the recommended daily dose of 5 espresso shots (equivalent of 2 takeaway flat whites). At Peaches, we have an amazing range of teas that will send you into the stratosphere. Make sure you drink lots of water as well to keep hydrated!

So go forth and set goals! Remember, keep it specific and keep it realistic. For any advice on how to eat healthy or for all the best and freshest produce, come down the Peaches Fresh Food and say hey to the Peaches Family!
